The government lost its bid to change and decrease the solar panel incentives. Homeowners, who had installed solar panels after the cut-off date of December 12 but before March 3, will now be entitled to the original higher Feed in Tariff. There are over 30,735 homeowners who will benefit positively from these changes in new feed in tariff and will not have to pay the new feed in tariff rates.
News on Feed in Tariff
The news and changes relating to the climate change ministry and new feed in tariff has cut the solar subsidies to less than half – from 43.3p per kWh of solar electricity to 21p per kWh from April 1, 2012, and that it has almost doubled the payback period from 10 years to 18 years has affected many manufacturers and house owners. This change has occurred due to the fact that there have been almost three times the number of solar panels installed, from what had been projected earlier. The feed in tariff review has stated that if the new changes or feed in tariff rates were not executed, then the bill would be £980m annually by 2014-15.
News on New Feed in Tariff Benefits
Ever since the feed in tariff was introduced in October 2010, there have been explosive changes and growth in solar panels. Solar energy generation since then has undergone several changes and has risen over forty one times. It has been estimated that by 2020 over 4m homes will be under the new feed in tariff schemes. Germany, which has had a feed in tariff scheme for many years, installed record 7.5GW units of solar power in 2011.
Multi-installation New Feed In Tariff News
As per the latest news and changes in new feed in tariff, energy performance certificates of level D are required for solar PV installations with a capacity of 250 kW or else, in order to receive a higher new feed in tariff. The multi-installation new feed in tariff is applicable from April 1, 2012 to installations where the recipient or the generator receive feed in tariff payments for over 25 eligible solar PV installations. According to the news and changes in new feed in tariff, this is not applicable to stand-alone installations.
